Frequently Asked Questions
Getting Started
How do I set up my daily checklist?
+
Go to the home screen and tap the edit icon in the top right corner of your checklist. You can add, remove, rename, and reorder items. Set each item's goal (how many times per day or days per week) and toggle items on or off.
How do I log my progress?
+
Tap any checklist item on the home screen to mark it complete. For items with a goal greater than 1, tap multiple times to log each completion. You can also long press any item to access quick actions.
Checklist & Logging
What does Skip do?
+
Skipping an item marks it as intentionally skipped for the day. It will appear greyed out with a strikethrough and a "Skipped" badge. Skipped items do not count toward your daily completion percentage or analytics. The skip resets at midnight like normal items.
How do I undo a log?
+
Long press any checklist item and tap "Undo Last Log." This removes the most recent completion for that item. If the item was skipped, it will be un-skipped.
How do I reorder my checklist?
+
Long press any checklist item and tap "Reorder." This opens a dedicated reorder screen where you can drag items up and down within the daily and weekly sections. Tap Save when done.
How do I view my history for a specific item?
+
Long press any checklist item and tap "View History." This takes you to the Calendar page filtered to show only that item's log history.
What is the Perfect Day celebration?
+
When you complete all of your daily checklist items (and any weekly items due that day), you'll see a confetti celebration and a "Perfect Day" popup. This only triggers once per day. You can disable it in Settings under Disable Popups.
Reminders
How do reminders work?
+
Open the Edit Checklist screen and expand any item. Tap "Set time" under the Reminder section to set a notification reminder. Daily items with a goal of 2 or more can have multiple reminders, one per goal count. Weekly items let you select specific days and set a time for each day.
Why aren't my reminders showing up?
+
Make sure notifications are enabled for Rootly in your iPhone Settings. Go to Settings, scroll to Rootly, and confirm Allow Notifications is turned on. Also check that the Notifications toggle in the Rootly app Settings is enabled.
Calendar & Analytics
How do I filter the calendar?
+
On the Calendar page, tap the filter dropdown inside the calendar card. You can select one or more checklist items or side effects to filter both the calendar dots and the log history below. Select "All Items" to return to the default view.
What do the calendar dots mean?
+
A filled dot means you completed all logged items for that day. A lighter dot means you partially completed them. When filtering to a specific item, a filled dot means the item was fully completed and a lighter dot means it was partially done.
What is the difference between Month, All Time, and Average in analytics?
+
Month shows your stats for the selected month with left and right arrows to navigate between months. All Time calculates your stats based only on the days you actively logged. Average calculates based on every day since you started using the app, including days you did not log, giving you a truer picture of your overall consistency.
What is Completion Rate?
+
Completion Rate shows the average percentage of your daily checklist you completed across all your logged days. For example, if you have 8 items and typically complete 7, your completion rate would be around 88%.
Settings
What does Week Starts On do?
+
This setting changes which day your week begins on. It affects the Calendar day headers, when weekly checklist items reset, and how weekly analytics are calculated. The default is Monday.
What does Disable Popups do?
+
When enabled, this hides the Perfect Day celebration modal and the level up notification modal. Your progress and XP still update normally, the popups just won't appear.
What does Show Reminder Times do?
+
When enabled, reminder times appear beneath each checklist item on the home screen. Toggle this off if you prefer a cleaner look without the times showing.
How do I export my data?
+
Go to Settings and tap Export Data under the General section. This generates a CSV file of your full log history including checklist completions and side effects. You can save it to your Files app, email it, or share it to any app via the native share sheet.

+
Yes, Rootly Pro includes a free trial for new subscribers. After the trial period ends, your selected plan (monthly at $9.99 or annual at $39.99) will automatically begin. You can cancel before the trial ends to avoid being charged.
